1p_logoThe 1%, a Program of Public Architecture, is an organization that challenges the design and architecture community to provide a minimum of 1% of their time (based on a 40 hour work week) to pro-bono services. The 1%, “connects nonprofit organizations in need of design assistance with architecture and design firms willing to donate their time on a pro-bono basis” (www.theonepercent.org).

Our commitment of giving back is part of who we are.

With our first project, Volunteers of America Chesapeake, we were challenges to reinvent their office space in a facility once used as a 1970′s medical office. The CEO understood how the work environment could support productivity, thereby impacting their community programs.

As a result of this experience, we went on to complete three subsequent projects made possible by The 1% organization. We assisted with the headquarter move and workplace renovation for Doorways for Women and Families, a residential outpatient renovation for The Phoenix House, and implemented a finish and brand palette for The Amazon Conversation Team. The Verve Partnership provided architectural and design services to advance each organizations’ work environment so that they may continue their work in public service.
